Two expeditions of floating universities of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation will take place in the Arctic this summer. They are to be organized by Moscow State University and the joint floating university of Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) and the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IO RAS). The crews of the research vessels will mostly consist of students, announced the ministry's press service on Tuesday.

The expeditions are timed to the Year of Science and Technology in Russia, as well as the Russian Federation chairmanship in the Arctic Council.
