NSR cargo flow forecast will be introduced by Rosatom
An issue of forecasting the cargo flow on the Northern Sea Route in the medium term will be raised by Rosatom on the first meeting of the new interagency commission of the Russian Security Council. The commission is focused on the issues of ensuring Russia's national interests in the Arctic, said Alexei Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom State Corporation.
“We have received instructions from the Council of Ministers to submit their proposals for consideration at the commission meeting. The first issue that we will introduce for consideration after the approval is the issue of cargo traffic (along the Northern Sea Route) in the medium term”, said Alexei Likhachev.
“Another issue is the analysis of responsible behavior of subsoil users in the medium term and the adjustment of infrastructure and ice-breaker fleet to these needs. Also we will need to discuss the work on providing emergency services, about providing communication, navigation and Internet activities”, he added.
The Commission was established in late August by decree of Vladimir Putin for carrying out the tasks of the Russian Security Council on the development of measures aimed at ensuring Russia's national security in the Arctic and socio-economic development of the Arctic zone of Russia, as well as to coordinate government agencies in this area.
