First solar power plants have been installed in remote villages of Chukotka region
Two solar-powered autonomous hybrid power plants have been mounted in the rural settlements of Snezhnoye and Kanchalan, Anadyr District, Chukotka. This is the first project of that kind in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, reported the the press service of the local government.
"The joint capacity of the two autonomous hybrid power units is 550 kW, the capacity of energy storage systems is 470 kWh. As part of the project, specialists have carried out the necessary modernization of the existing generating equipment and power supply scheme. The use of solar generation and energy storage systems will reduce fuel consumption and extend the life of the existing diesel generator equipment," the report says.
