The Russian government approved new criteria for evaluating the work of governors

The Russian government has changed the methodology for calculating the governor's KPI. The document was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The updated version will focus on the quality of improvement in municipalities, as well as the level of development of digital technology in the region. No visible sanctions will be applied to the heads of regions, the only penalty is the absence of additional subsidies from the federal budget.

In the section "Environmental Quality," more attention will be paid to waste management, and in the section "Digital Maturity," more attention will be paid to how advanced technology is used by state agencies. How to assess the work in regions where some settlements do not have a stable Internet? Obviously, an individual approach is needed here. The size of "bonuses" for governors, or to be more precise, for regions of their mandate, has not been determined yet.

A year ago, Russia already significantly updated the performance indicators for governors, but in practice they have not played a big role yet. Now, the system is getting even more complicated with all the new criteria. Moreover, in the spring an additional KPI was added for regional governors: this new KPI relates to forest fire fighting, including fire area reduction and the response time of all services.
