Rosatom is considering creating its own ship repair company

Rosatom considers the creation of its own ship repair company on the basis of existing facilities of the state corporation. This was reported on Monday by Konstantin Stasiuk, Deputy Director of the Department of the Northern Sea Route (NSR) projects implementation - the head of the NSR infrastructure development department of Rosatom, TASS reports.

"At present, the state corporation "Rosatom" is working on the issue of creating its own ship repair company on the basis of existing ship repair facilities," Stasiuk said, speaking in the Federation Council.

According to him, the decision has not yet passed corporate approval. "But if it is adopted, the services will be provided to a wide range of shipowners - fishermen and those vessels that pass through the NSR," Stasiuk explained.

Besides, there is a question of building another floating dock for nuclear-powered icebreaker of project 10510 Lider, which is under construction at Zvezda (Bolshoy Kamen, Primorsky Krai). Its displacement is twice as much as that of the largest Project 22220 Arktika icebreakers. "Therefore, if the icebreaker is planned to be commissioned by 2027, it is necessary to have a floating dock ready for servicing such a vessel by 2030 as well," said Stasiuk.
