Lomonosov Northern Federal University discussed topical issues of Arctic development

Current problems of the Arctic were discussed in Arkhangelsk. This was the main topic at the 3rd International Youth Scientific and Practical Conference "Arctic Studies: from Extensive Development to Integrated Development. 

The event was held at Lomonosov Northern (Arctic) Federal University. More than 180 young scientists from different regions of Russia, from Vladivostok to Moscow, summed up their research work over the past year and participated in six sections. 

They discussed socio-cultural and economic development of the Arctic, medical and biological problems, the natural resource potential of the northern region, Arctic ecosystems and environmental protection, industrial development and modern information technology.

Galina Antonovskaya, Deputy Director for Research at the Federal Research Center for Comprehensive Arctic Studies, noted that work in this region should be distinguished by the application of new technologies, state-of-the-art equipment and good scientific support. The task of young scientists is to respond to all the challenges and make the Arctic regions truly comfortable for life and work.
