A network of incinerators is proposed to be developed in the Arctic

It is necessary to create a network of incinerators in the Arctic zone of Russia, believes the head of the Russian Environmental Operator Denis Butsaev. Energy method of waste disposal is effective in terms of climate for the regions in the Arctic zone, he said.

"Lets take the Scandinavian countries, for example, Sweden. In terms of climate it doesn't differ much from the Russian Arctic. They recycle everything; nothing is buried on the landfills. Swedish model of energy recycling, again because of climatic conditions, can really be integrated quite successfully. In Sweden, recycling amounts to 50%. What is the problem for us to repeat the experience that already exists?" - he added.

According to Mr Butsaev, it is unreasonable to send waste from the Arctic cities for recycling to other regions, neither in terms of logistics and time, nor in terms of financial costs.
