Military personnel of the Central Military District have collected 750 tons of scrap metal

Soldiers of the environmental platoon of the Central Military District have collected 750 tons of scrap metal during the cleaning of the Arctic zone. The works have been fulfilled near the village of Volochanka in the Taimyrsky Dolgano-Nenetsky District of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The amount has exceeded the season plan by 150 tons. This was reported to journalists by Yulia Kolokolnikova, head of the environmental safety service of the Central Military District.

"Since the beginning of June, military ecologists of the Central Military District have collected 750 tons of scrap metal during the cleaning of the Arctic zone, thereby exceeding the plan by 150 tons. During the work, the soldiers dismantled and cut 25 metal structures and tanks, pressed more than 5.5 thousand barrels, preparing the collected scrap metal for transportation to storage sites," she shared. Ms Kolokolnikova has also specified that this year’s work is completed, so the staff begun to return to their permanent deployment points.

The press service of the Central Military District has clarified that more than 30 servicemen and about 20 units of special and automobile equipment were involved in cleaning of the Arctic from the garbage. An autonomous field camp was set up for them to live in.
