Konstantin Dolgov: Cargo traffic on the NSR could reach 130 and even 160 million tons
80 million tons of cargo loading on the Northern Sea Route is quite achievable, as well as the figure of 130 and even 160 million tons. This statement was made by the Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy Konstantin Dolgov during his speech at the session "The Northern Sea Route - the development of shipping and integrated infrastructure" at the X International Forum Arctic: Today and the future.
"Such figures are quite realistic and achievable, but everything will depend on how the implementation of strategic projects will go. Enormous transshipment facilities are being built, NOVATEK is building new infrastructure for liquefied natural gas. All of this, combined with international transportation, will ensure the transformation of the Northern Sea Route into a key global transport corridor," said Konstantin Dolgov.
