Ecological action on cleaning up the Arctic territories will be held as part of EMERCOM exercise
An ecological clean-up action will take place within the framework of a large-scale exercise of the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters (EMERCOM) in the Arctic zone. This was reported by the First Deputy Head of the Ministry, Alexander Chupriyan.
“Eco-actions are held in each region, where the exersizes are being conducted. The Russian President once told about the necessity to carry out a general cleaning, so we are fulfilling his request. We will involve not only the EMERCOM staff, but also volunteers and local citizens”, he shared at press-conference with TASS informational agency.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Victoria Abramchenko has shared that a general cleaning of water bodies, as well as elimination of accumulated environmental damage on the land. According to her, a total of 20 billion roubles will be allocated for priority projects of elimination of accumulated environmental damage.
