Deputy Chairman Vladimir Pushkaryov will moderate the session on eliminating environmental damage
Participation in the X International Forum Arctic: Today and the Future has been announced by Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Regional Policy and Problems of the North and Far East Vladimir Pushkarev. He will moderate the Elimination of accumulated environmental damage in the Arctic zone of Russia as a priority task of public policy panel session. It will be held on December 10, the first day of the business program of the event.
Elimination of accumulated environmental damage is one of the key objectives of the Basic Principles of State Policy in the Russian Federation for the period until 2035 and the most important direction of the Ecology national project. More than 100 such objects have been identified in the Arctic zone of Russia; all of them have a negative impact on nature and human health and prevent the development of the polar region.
The participants of the discussion will consider the implementation of the Clean Country priority project in the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation, hazardous waste disposal in the macro-region, economic incentives for the elimination of accumulated environmental damage, the problem of responsibility of subsoil users for the reclamation of mineral waste disposal areas, as well as updating environmental legislation and the formation of an effective waste management and recycling system in the Arctic.
