₽12.5 million will be spent on attracting teachers to the Arctic
Over ₽12.5 million will be allocated to the Teacher of the Arctic Yakutian project of 2020. The money will be used to attract specialists to remote northern areas, the press service of the regional Ministry of Education and Science told TASS.
“Cooperation agreements will be signed between the authorities of the Arctic regions, and measures will be taken to support teachers in the form of payment of travel and living expenses”, announces the agency, specifying that the project has already been approved and launched.
To train teaching staff, 120 state-sponsored places have been created at the faculties of North-Eastern Federal University (NEFU), 48 of them have been created as a part of the Teacher of the Arctic project. Besides, new classrooms will also be created and scholarships will be established to attract pupils to the profession.
By 2024, 450 school teachers will be employed in Yakutia under the announced project and 330 more teachers will raise their qualification. Also 80 municipal scholarships are to appear.
In 2020, 19 teachers moved to the Arctic to start working under the Zemsky Teachers program.
