Two new icebreakers "Arctic" for 100 billion rubles can be built in St.Petersburg
Earlier, at the Baltic Shipyard in St. Petersburg, the lead universal nuclear-powered icebreaker “Arctic” of project 22220 was built.
Atomflot is holding a tender for the construction of the third and fourth arctic nuclear-type icebreakers. According to the state procurement materials, the initial contract price is 100.059 billion rubles, which will be allocated from the federal budget and extrabudgetary sources.
According to the contract, the construction of the first icebreaker of the project 22220 should be started by the contractor no later than December 20, 2024, and the second one - on December 20, 2026. These icebreakers will be the largest and most powerful in the world. They will be able to conduct caravans of ships in arctic conditions, breaking through ice up to 3 meters thick and conduct ships with hydrocarbon raw materials from the fields of the Yamal and Gydan peninsulas and from the Kara Sea shelf to the markets of the Asia-Pacific region.
It should be noted that the «Arctic» nuclear-powered icebreaker, the leading universal nuclear-powered icebreaker, was built earlier at the Baltic Shipyard in St. Petersburg, and «Siberia» and «Ural» nuclear ships are currently under construction. Thus, the St. Petersburg plant can receive a state order for 100 billion rubles. The results of the tender will be announced on August 6.
