The state program for Arctic development will contain measures of northern cities support
The State Program for Arctic Development until 2024 will include measures to support northern cities that are included in the program of resettlement from old apartment houses. This was announced by Alexander Kozlov, Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, at a press conference on Tuesday.
“The houses in small arctic cities are dilapidated. That’s why we have included the issues, related to the support of northern cities, in the section of the state program”, he said.
The new document will also include mechanisms to attract investment and create jobs in the Arctic, as they are not specified in the current state program. It is planned to subsidize insurance premiums and rates on investment loans, to support investment projects in creating infrastructure. In addition, one of the subprogrammes will be devoted to the development of settlements, which are necessary to ensure national security or may serve as a basis for the development of mineral resource centers, implementation of economic or infrastructure projects in the Arctic.
