The Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia supported the environmental initiatives of the forum «Arctic: today and the future»
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation considered Resolution of the VI International Forum «Arctic: today and the future».
Experts of the Department analyzed the proposals of the forum participants on environmental protection in the Arctic, environmental monitoring, subsoil use, geological study of mineral resources and reproduction of mineral resources in the polar region.
The Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia supports the initiatives of the participants of the forum «Arctic: today and the future» on the development of legislative mechanisms for the regulation of environmental activities in the following areas: the development and implementation of satellite monitoring of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation and the use of unmanned aerial vehicles; formation of an environmental insurance system (including facilities related to oil production in the territory of the Russian Federation); implementation of the best available technologies for the implementation of mining activities in the Arctic; introduction of norms regulating the management of solid and municipal waste in the Arctic region, etc.
It should be reminded that on May 15, 2017, deputy Prime-Minister of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the State Commission for the Development of the Arctic Dmitry Rogozin instructed the leaders of the working groups, the scientific, business and expert council of the State Commission to consider the resolution of the VI International Forum «Arctic: today and the future» and submit proposals to the Russian government Federation.
