On the site of the VIII International Forum "Arctic: Today and the Future" the IPO "Association of Polar Explorers" Board Meeting During was held. During the meeting, issues of the organization’s work in 2018, its regional offices and plans for 2019 were tabled for discussion.

We are proud of you and are making every effort to fulfill your instructions and to convey to the authorities’ proposals for the development of the Arctic," said President of the Association of Polar Explorers Artur Chilingarov.
He was supported by the head of the regional branch of the Association in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Vladimir Chlenov. "We need to show our work and share our vision of the development of the Arctic. We know what the North is, how people live and work there, and in what direction the Arctic should be developed. Our advice and recommendations allow the federal authorities to develop such legislation that is really beneficial for the Arctic," he said.
According to members of the Council of the Association of Polar Explorers, work with young people is of particular importance for the development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. "The association pays special attention to working with young people. It is necessary to conclude agreements with universities that train specialists for the Arctic. We have developed several programs that encourage young people to stay in the Arctic regions," shared the experience the head of the regional office in the Murmansk region Gennady Kazanin.
Oleg Kirillov, Executive Director of the NGO "Association of Polar Explorers", reported on the work of the organization in 2018. "The Polar Explorers Association has launched a project on organizinge Office-Museum of Artur Chilingarov, an expanded museum concept is currently being developed, suggesting large-scale coverage of the Soviet and Russian history of polar research," Oleg Kirillov began the report.
In addition, over the past year, the Association of Polar Explorers signed cooperation agreements with the Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East, Concern Almaz-Antey, Association "Talanted Youth". It is planned to sign a cooperation agreement with the Federal Agency for Nationalities Affairs.
In 2018, the ASPOL Public Committee on Arctic Medicine took part in the creation of the "Ecology, Health and Quality of Life" fund, which is intended to support research in the field of Arctic medicine and human ecology. In addition, the commission, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, took part in the formation of the interdepartmental integrated program "Arctic Technologies".
During the meeting, on the occasion of the 75th birthday the polar explorer Valery Ippolitov was awarded an honorary diploma of the "Association of Polar Explorers" for his long-term contribution to the organization and conduct of research on the Arctic and Antarctic and the promotion of Russian scientific achievements.
