Scientists from Kazan created reagents based on castor oil for oil production in the Arctic
Specialists from Kazan Federal University have developed castor oil-based non-toxic reagents for a more stable process for transporting oil through pipelines; the substance is suitable for use in the Arctic. This was announced by the head of the department of development and operation of hard-to-recover hydrocarbon deposits Mikhail Varfolomeev.
"It is necessary to develop reagents that will allow more efficiently and with fewer accidents to extract and transport oil in the Arctic at low temperatures. Now the reagents have already been developed, they have been tested in laboratory conditions and they have shown their effectiveness. Further we plan to test them in industrial plants", - he said.
