Referendum on the merger of Arkhangelsk region and Nenets Autonomous district won’t be held in 2020
The referendum on the unification of the Nenets Autonomous district and the Arkhangelsk region is not planned to be held in 2020, TASS cited Vitaly Fortygin, Head of the working group in the Arkhangelsk region.
He told that the question of voting had not been discussed diring the yesterday's meeting. In his opinion, there will be no referendum on the merger in 2020.
Let us recall, that the Heads of the regions, Alexander Tsybulsky and Yuri Bezdudny have signed a memorandum of intent to unite the regions in Naryan-Mar on May 13. On May 15 the Government begun to collect proposals from local residents on the creation of a new Russian entity. It was reported that the referendum on the unification of the regions could be held in September.
Earlier the Speaker of the Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, had stated that the value of unification of these regions is confirmed by a sufficient number of arguments, but the final decision should be made by the citizens themselves.
