Five companies intend to obtain the status of residents of the Capital of the Arctic
Five companies intend to become residents of the Capital of Arctic Territory of Advanced Social and Economic Development (TASED) in Murmansk. Investments in the project is estimated at ₽139.1 billion.
In the beginning of February, the Russian Ministry of Economic Development proposed to create the Capital of the Arctic Territory in Murmansk. If approved, it will become the first TASED under the Ministry, located outside the Far East.
The authority to manage the Arctic TASED was given by the Russian government to the Far East Development Corporation, which already manages Free port of Vladivostok and Far East territories of advanced development.
Among the potential residents of the Murmansk TASED is Novatek-Murmansk, which looks forward to create a center for construction of large-capacity offshore structures in Belokamenka; Lavna Sea Trade Port plans to launch a coal terminal on the western bank of the Kola Bay. In addition, Port Liinakhamari LLC (a subsidiary of Norilsk Nickel PJSC) has proposed a tourist cluster project in the Pechenga district.
In December of 2019, Yuri Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister and President’s Plenipotentiary in the Far Eastern Federal District (FEED) requested to prepare a draft decree on the establishment of the TASED in Murmansk region for the implementation of the program for the construction of the Center for large-capacity offshore structures. According to Yuri Trutnev, such center will be unique. The investments are estimated at ₽120 billion; 15 thousand workplaces are planned to be created.
