Yakutia topped the list of regions with the highest percentage of unemployment
Yakutia topped the list of regions with the highest percentage of graduated young people who couldn’t find work. This rate is the highest in the country and it is 73.8%, as reported by REGNUM.
This rate is higher than 50% in four more regions, but this rate is significantly lower. For example, it is 62% in the Murmansk Region and it is lower than 55% in other three regions, as reported by Russian Newspaper.
«Perhaps, it happens because there is no job in these regions or higher education diplomas received by young people are not in demand», — Pavel Smelov, Director of Statistics and Data Science Center of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics said.
Before it was reported that the unemployment rate in Yakutia decreased by 2% for 10 years. It was reported by the government of the republic in November 2018. According to its data, unemployment rate is 7%. The government intends to increase the employment through the industrial development of the Arctic.
