The decision on the bid to expand the Russian shelf in the Arctic will be announced in July
In the coming months, the United Nations Commission may make public its decision on Russia's bid for the expansion of the Arctic shelf. It was reported by the First Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia Denis Khramov.
He noted that the United Nations Commission had already defined its attitude to the Russian bid and now the procedures stipulated by the convention were being carried out. Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation hopes that the organization’s commission will start preparing recommendations in the first two weeks of July. All the work of the Russian side will be taken into account.
«Everything is not bad. The commission hears our argument, we have a working dialogue with them, we think that the recommendations will be prepared by the commission in such a way that they will take into account all our work and the concept of development of the entire trans-arctic region», - RIA News quotes Khramov.
