The Russian Marine Corps began to receive upgraded armored tractors for the Arctic
The Russian Marine Corps in the Arctic began to receive upgraded, multipurpose lightly armored tractors designed to operate in the conditions of the Far North. It was reported TASS by the source of military-industrial complex.
«At present, the northern divisions of the marines receive the MLBSh tractors, which represent a serial modernization of the Soviet MT-LB. Moreover, the marines have already started using this technique», - TASS quotes their source.
The agency's interlocutor clarified that the first single samples of this equipment were delivered to the troops in 2015 for testing, but serial deliveries began this year.
According to him, the MLBSh is suited for operations in the Arctic region due to the balancing of the chassis, wide tracks and a reliable engine. «The upgraded tractor differs from the basic MTLB by installing a more powerful Kamaz-740 engine. Established turret with a PCT 7.62 mm machine gun was replaced by an open installation for a 12.7 mm Kord heavy machine gun», - he reported and added that this upgraded tractor had full maintenance.
The representative of the military-industrial complex noted that the search for further directions for the modernization of the MTLB was in the process. «This machine has proven itself extremely positively in a cold climate. It successfully performs the functions of both the tractor and the armored vehicle», - he said.
