The Finnish company will build two ships for cruises in the Arctic by 2022
The Finnish company Helsinki Shipyard will build the first expedition vessel for Arctic cruises commissioned by Vodohod in 2021, the construction of the second one will be completed in 2022, and the corresponding agreement was signed in mid-June. It was reported by the Vice-Chairman of the Arctic Economic Union Tero Vauraste.
«An agreement with the Russian company Vodohod was signed on the construction of two ships. The first ship will be released in 2021, and the second one - in 2022», - he said. The ships will be used on the northern rivers; in addition, they will be able to cruise along the Northern Sea Route.
Earlier, the Kommersant newspaper reported that the pre-project work on ice-class expeditionary vessels under the Vodohod project on the organization of Arctic cruises was in the final stages, and the first ship would be commissioned in the autumn of 2021.
Each ship is designed for 150-160 people, and its value is more than 100 million euros. Currently, various options for participation in the project of financial institutions, including the State Transport Leasing Company with the possible support of Finnish export agency, are being considered.
