Russia plans to create an arctic version of the Mi-26 helicopters
A new modification of the Mi-26 helicopter, which will be adapted to work in the Arctic, will be developed in the Russian Federation. It was reported by Andrey Boginsky, General Director of the Russian Helicopters holding company, during a briefing at the Aero India 2019 exhibition, which took place in India.
«We have an arctic version of the Mi-8, we’ve already had supplies. We are going to create both arctic versions of the Mi-38 and the Mi-26», — Federal News Agency quotes Boginsky.
He also added that Russian Helicopters holding company kept on working on the creation of upgraded version of the Mi-26T2B heavy-lift transport helicopter. According to him, by now the Ministry of Defense didn’t issue an order to construct this machine. Boginsky hopes that the Ministry of Defense will sign a supply after the completion of development work.
