Residents of the Yakut Arctic will be exempted from transport tax in 2019

Residents of the Yakut Arctic will be exempted from transport tax in 2019

This year, residents of the Arctic will no longer pay transport tax; the exemption will be applied in relation to the tax period of 2018. It was reported by the Minister of Economy of the Republic Maya Danilova.

Maya Danilova reported that the bill was prepared and in June it should be considered by Il Tumen. Tax zeroing will affect all 13 arctic regions.

«It is supposed that this year people will be free from the obligation to pay transport tax, because this privilege will begin to apply to the tax period of 2018, and the deadline for its payment for 2018 without a penalty will only occur in December 2019», — she said.

Minister noted that the exemption of the population from paying property and land taxes was the authority of the municipalities. As fas as she knows, this issue is already being considered in the Abyisky District. It is expected that soon all 13 regions will take appropriate decisions.

In March, the head of Yakutia, Aisen Nikolaev instructed the government to prepare a bill to exempt individuals in the Arctic regions from paying those taxes that were under the jurisdiction of the republic: land and transport taxes, property taxes.  The budget of the republic will take on the compensation of lost revenues of the municipal budget.
