Prosecutor General's Office of Russia will protect the nature of the Arctic
The Office for the Supervision of the Implementation of Laws on Environmental Protection and Nature Management, created as part of the Prosecutor General’s Office, will be engaged in the protection of the Arctic nature. It was reported by the RIA News.
They said that the Office would also monitor the implementation of laws on the protection and use of mineral resources.
It is noted that the structure will be engaged in strengthening of the prosecutor's supervision over the implementation of environmental legislation and respect for the rights of citizens to a favorable environment. In particular, the Office will deal with illegal deforestation, water pollution, air pollution and so on.
«The Office will be in charge of the prosecutor’s supervision in the field of waste management of production and consumption, production of environmental impact assessment, preservation of unique natural complexes of the Russian Arctic, Baikal Natural Area, Far East and Volga Basin», — it is said in the report.
