A few kilometers from Yakutsk, the construction of the Zhataisky shipyard was launched, where vessels will be built for operation in the north-east of the country. It was reported by the press-office of the Lensky United River Shipping Company.

Zhataisky shipyard will be one of the key links in the development of the eastern sector of the Arctic. It was allocated more than 5.7 billion rubles for the construction, including more than four billion rubles from the federal budget. The capacity of the shipyard will allow to build up to 10 vessels of various classes annually. In addition, it will be the place to modernize the fleet, its inter-navigation service, and the disposal of the old ships and barges.

«It is planned to finish construction and get the most modern shipyard in 2021, which will work in cooperation with other shipbuilding enterprises of Russia. Production of a wide range of vessels for the transport of goods and hydrocarbons is expected», - it was reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

As the head of the Republic Aysen Nikolaev noted the average age of vessels operated on the northern rivers was 34 years. "Zhataisky Shipyard will provide an opportunity to develop the river fleet of Yakutia, whose work many lives depend on», - he said.
