At the Forum “Arctic: Today and the Future” will be organized the discussion on key questions of social and economic development of the Arctic zone of the RF

During December 4-6 in Saint-Petersburg the VII International Forum “Arctic: Today and the Future” will be held with the support of the State Commission for Arctic Development.

The forum is among the biggest business events of the country. At its platform the results of the year are summed up and plans of developing the Arctic zone of the RF are identified.

The IPO “Association of Polar Explores” is an organizer of the Forum, it is headed by Artur Chilingarov – Special representative of Russian’s President on international cooperation in the Arctic and Antarctic.

The development of reference zones and monocities, industrial cooperation and modern system of communication, preservation of the ecology and development of ecological tourism in the Arctic will become the main agenda of the Forum. Mechanisms of increasing the quality of life in the Arctic region, development of the Arctic science and education, introduction of modern technologies and prospects for developing international cooperation, all these questions also will be discussed.

Leading Russian and Foreign experts will discuss effective points of raising of the macroregion and will identify their potential opportunities and limits with representatives of the government at the platform of the VII International Forum.

On December 4-5 plenary sessions will open the work of the Forum where issues and targets for thematic discussions will be determined. Two-days business program includes more than 30 discussion’s and special events.

On December, 4 within the visiting session of the Interdepartmental working group of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Minister of Industry Denis Manturov, Minister of Energy Aleksandr Novak, Chairman of the Board of the Gazprom Aleksei Miller and the other participants of the working group will discuss questions of import substitution in the fuel and energy complex.

On December, 5 the meeting of the State Commission for Arctic Development will be held at the Forum’s area. Under the chairmanship of Deputy Chairman of the Government of the RF Dmitrii Rogozin it is planned to discuss the process of realization of the state policy of the RF in the Arctic, forming the system of waste management, measures of the state policy in the field of scientific researches and also development of investment projects of mining and smelting industry for 2017. The Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Group of Companies Norilsk Nickel are among the main reporters.

Projects of developing reference zones of the nine Arctic regions will be presented within the Forum, also will be organized signing of agreements on cooperation between IPO “Association of Polar Explores” and the Arctic subjects of the RF.

An exhibition will be traditionally organized for the supporting the Forum’s agenda. The Arctic regions, large state corporations and private companies will present their technological solutions for the development of the Arctic zone of the RF. The topic of cultural and historical heritage of the Arctic will be supported by exhibits of authentic culture of the small peoples of the North and Russian Far East.

PJSC VTB Bank, the “Norilsk Nickel”,Gazprom Neft PJSC, JSC “Almaz – Antey” Air and Space Defence Corporation”, PAO NOVATEK, JSC “Mezhregiontruboprovodstroy” have become official partners of the VII International Forum.

Leading informational agencies – INA “Russia Today” and TASS gave the informational support to the Forum as General partners.

Suggestions and initiatives of the Forum will be in the “Final public resolution on questions of social and economic development of the Arctic zone of the RF”, which is directed to the State Commission for Arctic Development, Specialized Ministries and Authorities and all interested structures.
