Draft*

12:30 - 13:00

H20-21 (2 floor)

Section description

Exploration work is an important element in the process of oil and gas development on the Russian Arctic shelf. Its implementation is not possible without the full ensuring of reliable marine equipment, as well as without an effective system of maritime logistics Ice Control systems, elimination of oil spills, fire-fighting and rescue operations. Large remoteness of many of the licensed areas from onshore supply bases and difficult ice conditions there, require new, innovative approaches to the organization of exploration work and the composition of the fleet, providing these activities.
During the round table there will be discussed the issues related to the evaluation of the effectiveness of the new scheme of providing exploration work on the Arctic shelf using the autonomous drilling systems, their influence on the formation of the fleet of vessels and the construction program. The issues related to the creation of domestic Ice Control systems as an essential element in ensuring the exploration work on the Arctic shelf also will be discussed.

Topics for discussion

  • Prospects of implementation of the Arctic shelf oil and gas potential
  • Features of the organization and conduct of the exploration work on the Russian Arctic shelf and provision with maritime appliances
  • Creation of autonomous drilling systems is a way to optimize the fleet of vessels for the exploration work in the Arctic
  • The ice control as one of the most important elements of ensuring the exploration work on the Arctic shelf
  • Assessment of the available operational season for exploration work on a number of license zones of the Arctic shelf
  • The results of works on creation of the prototype of Ice Control Systems
